The ever-increasing demand for higher-power dense electrical machines has resulted in different electrical, mechanical, and thermal stresses, which can eventually cause machine failure. For this reason, the management of stresses losses must be thoughtfully investigated to have a highly reliable machine. literature agrees that winding are dominant loss mechanism many machines. However, statements vary on how mitigate these along with aforementioned stresses. To avoid failure, study various topologies would allow better consideration challenges limitations performance aim, paper introduces comprehensive review topologies. Many reported cases summarized compared. Moreover, utilization additive manufacturing (AM) production windings is presented, showing high level maturity emerging technology. Finally, facing design introduced including AC frequency losses, management, mechanical acoustic problems, insulation aging, automated production, manufacturability.
